Confucius lived in China more than two thousand years ago. Korea made his teaching into daily manners: age, study, and the family as the first school of the state. That is the grammar, not the whole person. Young Koreans complain about it, joke about it, and still bow to it in a job interview. You must hold both facts. If you treat every Korean as a Confucian statue you will miss the argument in the room.
