Understanding Korean Culture

Hangul is the Korean alphabet. It was made, not inherited as a closed club. In 1443 King Sejong’s court designed letters so farmers and women could read. Many letters look like the mouth or throat when you say them. That is why international students can start reading station names faster than they expect. You do not need to be fluent this week. You need to stop treating every sign as a picture. It is a sound system. Sound systems can be learned.
